Welcome to MyPrinceton.ca
This website template was created to serve the micro-market that other News, Events and Classifieds sites ignore. The main purpose of the website is to provide an easy to use information and communication hub. Hopefully, this will support the local economy and foster more involvement within the community. The video below explains it all.

So why this website?
What’s the purpose? What’s the Mission? What’s the Vision?
“Well, It came out of the BC Historical Federation Conference back in 2023, which we hosted here in Princeton. I did a presentation there and I believe it was in the question and answer period after that where I was complaining about the dilution of communications in small towns like ours and the lack of a central place where people can find out about events and so many other things. A gentleman pointed out to me that Naramata had figured this thing out and they had a website called “MyNaramata”. I took a look at that website and it was surprising! It was kind of an older website so it wasn’t ideal but I could not believe the engagement by the community with that website and I thought wow, this is it. This is really what I would like to see happen for Princeton and indeed for any little town; to have that one place that you would go to and all the people of the town would put their events there and if they had a half a yard of chicken manure left over they’d be able to sell it to their neighbors there. Just you know, every little thing, right? So I thought about it for a long time and actually had to go through three different software platforms before I found this particular one, which seems to be the best one for the purpose. So, it’s not a fancy website, it however, does have a lot of visuals as opposed to something like Craigslist which largely does the same job but not for the tiny little communities. They are more interested in servicing the larger areas. Anyway, this one is definitely about the small market. It is about Princeton, and area, directly; and if Keremeos, Cawston and Olalla want something similar then I suggest they start their own, as a matter of fact, this whole package will be available as a template for anybody else who wants to do it”.
“The Mission of this particular website is to have one place for the community where they can go to connect far more efficiently than what we have now. Facebook is wonderful. I’m not looking to displace or replace Facebook. Facebook has its place, but they’re all little niche groups and it’s so hard to really reach your target audience on Facebook. So often we hear of an event the day after it’s happened and I find that extremely frustrating. So I hope to alleviate that situation and make communications within the community much more efficient.”
“The Vision would be that in three or four years we have the same sort of engagement with the website that MyNnaromata has. That website has existed for some time, I think it’s more than 10 years. I’m hoping to bring our community closer or give us a greater sense of community by getting to know each other much better and interacting together more. Modern technology, instead of bringing us together, has actually split us apart and now we all run in our own little circles and the circles very seldom overlap. So it would be nice if we could get beyond that and become much more of a community.”
